Polk Launches New Subwoofers

- Written by STEVE MAY

As demand for new generation premium sound systems heats up Polk whose products are distributed by Interdyne has launched a pair of front-firing 10-and 12-inch longthrow subwoofers as part of its Home Theatre Series (HTS).

Featuring the brand’s PowerPort technology, designed to reduce port noise and an extended bass impact, the models employ 200W and 400W Class D amplifiers respectively.

The subs sport standard LFE In and gold-plated phono line level inputs for easy integration, with controls for volume, low pass filter, phase, and a 12V trigger for on/off power switching Subs.

The cabinets uses a rigid and acoustically inert enclosure and features curved edges, to more easily blend with home décor. Non-resonant Meddite MDF construction, with extra bracing, reduces unwanted internal standing waves.

“Tight bass is an incredibly important factor to any audio system. Our HTS Subwoofers provide increased amplification, improved driver construction and great dynamic range, all factors that are going to completely amaze and delight listeners,” says Michael Greco, global brand director, Polk Audio. “When it comes to subwoofers, efficiency and accuracy are absolutely crucial to deliver clean, chest-thumping bass. Therefore, we chose to leverage Polk’s PowerPort technology for the HTS Subwoofers—it dramatically reduces port turbulence and noise while preserving depth and clarity.”
