Boulder’s rock-solid 3010 pre-amp
The extraordinary design below is Boulder’s new flagship 3010 preamplifier, three years in development, and with its curious appearance partly due to having four independent chassis — one for the le channel signals, one for the right channel, one for the logic/user interface signals, and one for the power supply. These fit together into a unit which looks integrated, but isn’t.
That enormous top display is a full-colour 38cm LCD display to show all controls, settings, and audio paths, including three balanced outputs which can be operated independently for multiple zones or together for bi- or tri-amplification. There’s an Ethernet connection which provides OpenHome compatibility, online access to future soware updates and also browser control of all preamplifier function, including preferences and input naming. Boulder is distributed in Australia by Absolute Hi End, with the 3010 priced here at $159,900. More info: www.absolutehiend.com
