Savant home integration now with Avation

-

We remember being mightily impressed with Savant’s uniquely organised approach to home automation when it was first demonstrated at Integrate in 2011, though that was a good few years after the company’s home U.S. launch in 2005. Back then it was a firmly Apple-orientated system, with Savant the first company to introduce native iPad, iPhone and iPod touch applications for managing home automation control, and also pioneering TrueCommand, a dynamic display technology that transformed any screen in the home or office into a control portal with user interaction previously available only with touch panels.

And my, as they say, how it’s grown. Ever since then, Savant has maintained a position as one of the fastest-growing smart home companies in the luxury and mid-price markets. Today’s the company’s ‘Pro’ technology brings together entertainment, climate control, lighting and energy in a single application interface for whole-home control — these days available through both iOS and Android interfaces. The recent Pro 8 interface has gathered acclaim and awards.

In Australia Savant has announced the appointment of Avation as the new exclusive distributor. It’s a good match — Avation has long been a premier provider of control systems and AV distribution solutions here in Australia, as well as Vivid Audio speakers. It was founded in 2010 by Mark Hamilton, who put a firm emphasis on not only top-level customer service, but also training and technical support for their dealer network.

“Savant offers the industry’s best residential automation platform, providing homeowners with an exceptional experience through a delightful user interface,” says Avation’s Mark Hamilton. “We are excited to work with our vast dealer network in order to bring the Savant connected home experience to customers across Australia.” The local website for Savant is currently

www.savantapac.com, which provides product information, news and details of how to connect with a local Savant integrator.

Another Avation brand is Zappiti, which used the CEDIA Expo in the US recently to show its new 4K HDR media system, now using a Realtek chipset with double the speed and improved graphics capabilities, adding H.265 support, and introducing Zappiti Share to share content between multiple Zappiti units in different zones. “So think multiroom video, like a traditional multiroom audio system” says Mark Hamilton.
