Jaybird Vista

With proper waterproofing and a musical sound, Jaybird’s Vista true wireless buds are a top performer even against the tough competition.

After Jaybird entered the true wireless market with the promising but ultimately flawed Run range of in-ears in 2017, we were eager to see the company have another crack. And we pleased to find that the Jaybird Vista has addressed every earlier shortcoming to make this excellent pair of rugged in-ears. The Jaybird Vista’s charging case is highly compact and lightweight we’ve come across (particularly in comparison to the Run’s), and still squeezes in 10 hours of reserve charge to add to the six from the buds themselves. It’s coated in a rubberised plastic that looks and feels sleek and durable, and is the first of the range to upgrade to a USB-C port.

The earbuds themselves are similarly sleek, light and hardy, with a much smaller profile when in the ear than the Run, and a fit that’ll make them near impossible to fall out. The IPX7 rating is also a welcome feature — that allows brief full immersion, so that whether you’re sweating or it’s raining, the peace of mind goes a long way.

Thankfully, Jaybird’s stellar sound quality is present here as well, with an adjustable equalisation via the app allowing for a welcome bass boost or other refinements. Most impressively, despite their flush profile, the Jaybird Vista offer much improved connectivity over the Run, with very few drop-outs save for busy Bluetooth environments.

At $299, mind you, these are the most premium Jaybird headphones available, and in an increasingly competitive market, this might be too high a price for some against the major brands. Yet the Jaybird Vista proved the perfect in-ears for everyday users and athletes alike thanks to their compact IPX7 design, great audio quality and decent connectivity. HD
