Shining a light on Vivitek projectors

-

Vivitek’s extensive projection range is now getting a boost in presence here in Australia thanks to a new distribution arrangment with Melbourne’s Synergy Audio Visual. It comes at a perfect time — Vivitek is just releasing its first consumer-level Ultra High Definition projector in the HK2288 (review under way), while at this year’s ISE in Amsterdam the company came away with four ‘Best of ISE’ awards covering a wide gamut all the way from a neat portable projector to a win for ‘Best High-End Fixed Install Project’.

Vivitek is a brand of Delta Electronics, headquartered in Taiwan, where R&D is conducted, and with global sales and marketing operations through North America, Europe and Asia. Besides the sheer range of product, a notable aspect of Vivitek’s product development is a firm emphasis on ‘clean and green’; all products have an ecology-conscious design, such as lead-free soldering, intelligent cooling systems and high-efficiency power systems; they are also manufactured in ‘green’ factories.

“Vivitek’s full HD and 4K UHD projectors provide the best image quality with the latest in video processing performance and high contrast ratios,” says Synergy’s Philip Sawyer. “As one of the world’s largest DLP (Digital Light Processing) projector manufacturers, Vivitek is a leading developer of state-ofthe-art technology to enhance any display requirement and its digital projection and display devices incorporate the latest innovations and technologies to deliver superior performance for customers.”

That HK2288 model is certainly at the forefront of technology, using Texas Instrument’s ‘4K UHD’ DLP system to deliver the full pixel count required for Ultra High Definition projection, with 2000 ANSI lumen brightness and 50,000:1 contrast ratio, at rather impressive Australian pricing for UHD of just $5999.

Another intriguing model is the ultra short-throw laser projector called the DH765Z, capable of a 150-inch 1080p image from a mere 40cm throw distance, and with 4000 lumens output, likely to achieve viewable results even in rooms with ambient light. Its lampless laser light source delivers up to 20,000 hours of operational time. Pricing again is $5999. Just two examples from a wide new range, which we hope to report on soon.
