KEEP ON TRUCKIN’

-

LEON Davies and Leah Blackmore turned their Red Centrenats journey into a fullblown holiday, totalling 5520km in Leon’s Trucky from Geelong and back.

“It was awesome!” Leon enthuses. “We did a bit of touring around on the way; we stopped off at Robe, went through the Barossa, the Flinders Ranges and went to Peterborough, which has a killer railway museum. I love checking out these towns that had thousands of people living in them in their heyday and are now down to a couple of hundred.

“Then, we turned off and went to the Rock, which is quite a detour. On the way you can stop at Erldunda, which is the geographical centre of Australia. There is a great roadhouse there and when we arrived it was happy hour, so that was pretty good.

“The event itself was fantastic, and on the way home we motored back in two days. That is how I’d recommend anyone do it – make a holiday out of it on the way, then zoom home afterwards.”

Leon also scored a spot in The Shed and took out the Top Ratter award.
