What is your business name and what do you do? Hi-tec Engine Builders specialises in race car, drag car and high performance street car engine builds, with performance and reliability in mind. Hi-tec Race Engine Builders are also extremely advanced in suspension and braking packages. Describe how your business came about. I’ve been involved in mechanical repair, maintenance and engines building for over 30 years. For many years I have pushed the boundaries of engine performance, fabrication, porting and tuning. Through this constant evolution I have developed a business which has two main pillars, the LS range, and the mighty Holden 6. How many years have you been in business? I’ve been in the trade for more than 30 years. What is your company’s best-selling product? Our LS engine builds are always popular; however, I believe we really excel in our Holden 6 engines. What are you currently developing? I’m always developing and constantly trying to find more horsepower, torque and reliability out of the Holden 6. It’s my passion, in fact all older engines I love working on, 304, 308, 351 and so on. What do you import from overseas? I try to source most of my engine parts form Australian business, and always use Australian fabricators to customer’s engines if it’s a job we can’t do in house. What achievement or product are you most proud of? The power and reliability that we get out of our JZ head swapped Holden 6 engines. We can get as much as 450 horsepower out of a 202, which is a real screamer. The effort, knowledge, time and passion that has gone into this product is what I am most proud of. Further comments that you believe are of interest to our readers. Hi-tec Engine Builders are really looking for customers who are keen to push the boundaries of traditional engines. A lot of engine shops can throw some cams into an LS, and that’s easy, however if you are looking to really push the tuning envelope and keep your reliability, then we would love to talk to you.
