Street Machine

HOW IT WORKS:

-

WE DON’T like rules much and we like enforcing them even less, so we’ve kept Street Machine Drag Challenge as simple as possible. The event is open to any four-wheel vehicle with full street equipment and current registration in their home state. You can use any fuel you like, but you’ll have to carry what you need or buy it along the way. You can tow a trailer if you like, provided it has a single axle and is no higher than 190cm. And no, you can’t run fuel, coolant or electrical lines forward to the car. Nice try, though. Support vehicles and car trailers are right out. Don’t even think about it. Everything you need for the week – fuel, food, tyres, tools and helpers – has to be carried in your race car or trailer. If you break down, then it is up to you to fix it and get to the next track before racing stops for the day. Miss a day and it’s all over! Put your car on a trailer and the same applies, unless you break down in a dangerous spot – then you are allowed to be towed only to the nearest safe place. Between each track, we have a mandatory stop and you’ll need to grab a photo of your car there to prove it. In terms of the competition, cars in the ‘tyre’ classes race heads-up. The name of the game is to hand in your best timeslip (and the photo of your car at the mandatory stop) to the officials before racing ends and get going to the next track. The car in each class with the lowest cumulative time from the five tracks wins! If you face the tree and don’t complete the pass, or just limped down the track, a 20sec pass at 50mph applies. The rest of the field run in Dial Your Own, the winner of which is calculated by some kind of arcane black magic, but basically it’s the car with the smallest ET spread across all five tracks. DYO is a run-what-you-brung deal, though your car should be quicker than 12.99 seconds. The classes break down like this:
