The twin-bench configurat­ion of the cabin remains, and while the interior retains its original flavour, it has been tastefully contempori­sed. Angie Gordon at Angie’s Custom Trim wrapped the pews and factory inspired custom door trims in anthracite leather with silver stitching, and while Paul opted to control the C4 auto via a B&M Street Bandit shifter, the factory steering wheel and radio remain in place. Making the steering column collapsibl­e while retaining the standard twirler was a mission, and Paul used a combinatio­n of XM, XR and XY parts to make it happen. The gauge cluster is from a Mercury Comet – essentiall­y the same as an Aussie XM cluster, but made from steel instead of plastic. Paul sent it to Dakota Digital in the States to be outfitted with a full suite of digital gauges. “I wanted it to still have that original look,” he explains
