> LYNCHY, BRASHER AND ROD WATERS GIVE THE YANKS A LESSON IN HOW TO PARTY

-

POWERCRUISE USA was a hoot, but sometimes getting there is half the fun. That’s certainly true of Powercruise promoter Gup and the merry band of Aussies that he brought to the States to give the Yanks a lesson in smashing tyres. Lynchy, Mick Brasher, Rod Waters and their respective skid cars were there to be a major drawcard for the event, but Gup is a bloke who knows how to have a good time, and he wanted to make the most of the trip from California to Minnesota for Powercruise.

Not long after being reunited with their cars in Los Angeles, the boys were ripping the mean streets of Compton a new one, and a couple of days later they rolled into Hoonigan headquarters to show the world what Aussie burnouts are all about.

Andrew Hawkins from Jet Multimedia teed up the Hoonigan visit, and told us that the guys there were keen to find out if the rumours were true. “As soon as Hoonigan heard we could bring some Aussie burnout cars they were stoked,” he said. “They wanted to see if the hype was real, because their Youtube comments are full of people telling them that Aussies do it best.”

One by one, Rod, Lynchy and Brasher did a number on Hoonigan’s world-famous compound, and the performance surpassed all expectations. “It was mental!” said Hawkins. “We messed it up so bad that the EPA, the fire department and the cops all came. The Hoonigan guys admitted that the boys outdid anything they thought they might be capable of; the hype was real – the Aussies backed it up and then some.”

From there, the crew rolled on to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where more freedom and smoky good times ensued. To watch the videos, head to Powercruise’s social channels, and for all the action from Powercruise USA at Brainerd International Raceway, turn to page 50 of this issue.
