HOT GOSSIP
BREAK THE DROUGHT
THIS drought is a real bastard of a thing. Our primary producers have been doing it tough for a long time, and a group of car enthusiasts in northern Queensland are doing what they can to bring some relief to local farmers. Appropriately taking place on Australia Day 2020 at Palmyra Dragway, Drag The Farmers Out Of Drought will feature drag racing, dyno runs, a show ’n’ shine, trade displays and much more! It’s a family-friendly affair, so get along and support the event, have fun with your toys and help raise some coin to assist those in need.
GET EDUCATED
OUR friends at Shannons Club have uploaded a culturally significant, four-part doco series to the interwebs. Entitled End Of An Era, the series charts the rise and fall of the Aussie car industry, chronologically documenting the influence of war, politics, Holden, Ford, Chrysler, less-mainstream manufacturers, and most importantly, Australia’s beloved muscle car era of the 1960s and 1970s. There are plenty of period adverts, and race footage of the cars we love – and, of course, the cars we love to hate. There’s no sales agenda; just brilliant, nostalgic vision and informed talking heads. Find it at shannons.com.au/club/videos/.
