CADDY SHACK?

-

IF, LIKE us, you’re still pining over the loss of locally produced V8 performance sedans, then there may be a solution brewing. While yet to be confirmed, our mates at Wheels magazine believe there is a good chance HSV is looking at bringing the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing here to rival BMW M and Mercedes AMG V8 sedan offerings. Packing 6.2 litres of supercharged LT4 goodness and the option of a 10-speed auto or a delicious six-speed manual, it could quite easily the plug the hole left by the nowdeceased HSV Clubsport and GTS. So we put the question to you on our Facebook page: Could an Hsv-fettled Cadillac be just the thing to take on the Germans?

TJ Steadman – Hasn’t anyone noticed that nobody buys big sedans anymore? Hello?

Michael Silverlock – The Commodore and Falcon sold because they were affordable. If the Caddy is over $70K, the market appeal will drop away pretty quickly.

Patrick Flinn – What a joke! It still won’t be as good as an HSV and at twice the price? Stay Stateside with these overrated pieces of crap!

Chris Francis – If they could do it so they’re affordable, they would sell.

James Rock – It looks like a Holden Cruze.

Shane Atkinson – Considering the government imposed taxes in order to keep the Australian manufacturing industry competitive, and now we don’t manufacture cars in Australia, why can’t the imposed import tariffs be removed so that cars like this could be sold here at a reasonable price?

Rob Don – I love my Holdens, but I say yes to Cadillacs. It’s the perfect car for HSV.

Mustafa Haddad – It’s nice, but it’s $5080K nice. It’s not nice enough for a $200K starting price for the base model.

Jimmy Mac – Sell it as a GTS replacement. Wasn’t the VF GTS aimed at Merc E63 and BMW M5 territory anyway?

Steven Mulcahy – The answer is yes. Australian motoring was built on American V8s.

Kon Halias – Probably not, because I doubt it would cost close to an AMG or BMW M car by the time an Aussie company converts it to right-hand drive and complies it.

Grahame Rosewarne – They look like an HSV. I could just imagine how much they are going to cost though.

Leon Smith – We should have had the Cadillac CTS-V here years ago.

Daniel Biancardi – The ZB Commodore should’ve been a Caddy.

Steve Newton – I wouldn’t be seen dead owning a German vehicle, so my answer is yes!

Jono Jrm – That’s hot; what a perfect Commodore replacement. If only Holden had done its research a bit better.

Andrew Moonslint – The next V8 family car – they just need the wagon version.

Craig Hogg – The price would be the deciding factor.

Dan Chapman – I would buy a BMW over any piece-of-shit GM car.

Paul Macdonald – God I hope so! I wish we had the CTS-V.

Stuart Benson – F**king yes. YES! YES I SAY!
