PINKY RETIRES

ANYONE who was a regular at Summernats, the old Eastern Creek drags or at car shows up and down the east coast will remember the irrepressible Pinky. He’s a legend of a bloke who has spent years touring around Australia in his trusty bus, commentating at shows, motorsport events and dyno comps with boundless enthusiasm. We were saddened to hear recently that health issues are preventing him from continuing his announcing work, so raise a frosty one to Pinky at knock-off time. If you’d like to learn more about Pinky and his career, head to whichcar.com.au/ streetmachine and search ‘Pinky’.

LOOKING PUZZLED

CHASING a bit of iso entertainment after re-watching every episode of Carnage and doubling down on Tiger King? Photographer to the stars, Chris Thorogood of Thorogood Auto Photography can help! Chris has shot a fair percentage of our features for years, and now any image he’s taken is available as a custom, Aussie-made jigsaw puzzle. Whether Chris has shot your car for a feature or at a show, or if you just have a favourite car or image of his that we’ve run in the mag, he can sort you out. Just search Thorogood Auto Photography on Facebook or tapd59 on Insta and slide on into his DMS.

NEXT!

MOPAR fans rejoice! Next issue we’ll bring you a feature on one of the toughest AP6S in the known universe. For fans of 80s muscle, we’ll have two strong offerings: one from the Holden camp and one from Ford. We’ll also bring you a tough Ls-powered Torana, Steven Alldrick’s gorgeous ’32 roadster, and a good old-fashioned tunnel-rammed small-block HQ. We’ll take you back to No Excuses at Ballarat Airstrip so you can at least look at pictures of drag racing, and chat with one of the all-time legends of our sport in Mark Sanders. All that and more in the July issue of Street Machine, on sale 18 June. Don’t miss it!
