Cowboy, take me away

- BY CLARE STANDFAST

Surrounded by turquoise, sunflowers, lace, hessian and hay resting on a sun-soaked creek, Jarrod Clanchy made his beautiful bride Erica Geppert his wife on October 1.

“Jarrod is a hardworking, cheeky country guy — he’s a loveable larrikin!” Erica laughs.

After eight years of friendship prior to two-and-a-half years together as a couple, Jarrod proposed to Erica in 2015 at the coast on bended knee surrounded by rose petals and canvases painted with ‘will you marry me?’, after she returned from Cheyenne Frontier Days, Wyoming, representing as Warwick Rodeo Queen.

Clydesdales with carts delivered Erica and her bridesmaids to the ceremony at Jondaryan Woolshed, where Jarrod and his groomsmen waited under an archway of sunflowers and wagon wheels.

Taking the arm of her exceptionally proud father Rodney, Erica walked down the aisle to She’s Everything by Brad Paisley, with her smiling fiancé Jarrod waiting for her.

Jarrod’s groomsmen were his friends Jared, Matthew and Brent and his brother Callum, and Erica’s bridal party consisted of her best friends Kylie, Toni, Mikaela and Jarrod’s sister, Eilish.

Erica and Jarrod’s reception was also held at Jondaryan Woolshed, adding their unique stamp by having their grandparents’ and parents’ wedding photos in the reception area — intertwining love past, present and future.

Erica’s breathtaking dress was designed by Bertossi Brides at Paddington Weddings, drawing inspiration from timeless Grace Kelly, with a lace overlay, drop waist and extended shoulder.

Erica’s engagement ring is an all-diamond band with a large diamond, and her wedding ring is an all-diamond band. Jarrod’s ring is two-tone white gold and platinum-style band. The couple honeymooned at Palm Cove in north Queensland, enjoying some warm weather on the Great Barrier Reef. As for the future, Erica and Jarrod have a multitude of plans. “We’d love children, good careers and an upgrade from the current small block to a larger farm to run our horses and dogs, then onto many more animals and cropping land.”

In the end, the country boy certainly got the girl.
