Ladies leading the way
The Downs Women in Business Awards are will recognise our wonderful local women
On November 16 the Downs region Women in Business Awards Gala Awards Reception will recognise the wonderful female leaders, achievers and innovators that grace the area.
The Women in Business Awards of Australia, founded by executive director Karen Phillips on the Gold Coast in 2013, encourage innovation and initiative among women entrepreneurs. They have now expanded to other regions across Queensland. With the annual awards now in their second years on the Downs, it aims to provide a unique platform for both personal and business growth and profiling in the region.
“We’ve recognised incredible females in all age groups and from all walks of life, some who are still in school and showing extraordinary leadership qualities, through to mature-aged women smashing the traditional business models, with entirely new concepts for success,” Ms Phillips said.
“The women and young ladies we are recognising are change-makers, risk-takers, innovators and creators — they are all women of inspiration, who have what it takes to go the distance.”
“Whether you are a school student showing leadership qualities right through to a young entrepreneur breaking out of the traditional business model, the awards give the individual and their business a unique profiling opportunity.”
The annual awards feature over $10,000 in prizes including a diamond pendant from Ms Jewellery Shop for category, and finalists and winners also become part of Awards Alumni.
The Empowering Young Women’s and Aspiring Young Achievers categories all receive a leadership course provided by University of Southern Queensland, the Awards major partner.
The winners will be announced at the Gala Awards at Gip’s Restaurant on November 16.
