GRADUART 2016

When: November 4 to December 15, 5pm Where: USQ Art Gallery, West Street, South Toowoomba What: This vivacious exhibition leads the way for future regional arts.

Graduating USQ Visual Arts students will display their work in an annual exhibition, representi­ng the completion of their research in their chosen visual arts exercise.

This is ongoing until December 15, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

The event is free.

CHRISTMAS IN THE COUNTRY ART AND CRAFT SHOW

When: November 4 to November 5, 9am to 4pm Where: Gatton Shire Hall, North St, Gatton What: This art and craft show will host over 65 stalls just in time for the Christmas shopping.

Browse stalls with Christmas gifts, jewellery, fresh local produce and cakes, quilting and patchwork supplies, timber, scrapbooki­ng supplies, paintings, plants, home-made goodies, various crafts and much more.

Join in the festivitie­s for opening night on Thursday, November 3, from 7pm with drinks and nibbles.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $8 for children under 12.

THE NUTCRACKER

When: November 5, 8pm Where: Empire Theatre, 54-56 Neil St, Toowoomba What: The Imperial Russian Ballet Company will return to Australia to perform the loved and well known ballet, The Nutcracker, famous for Tchaikovsk­y’s music. ZUMBA GOLD

When: November 7, 8.55am to 9.55am Where: USQ Works Health & Recreation Centre Group Fitness Room in The Clive Berghofer Centre, Baker Street, Toowoomba What: Zumba Gold is an altered Zumba class that recreates original you love at a lower intensity. moves The class is perfect for older adults, beginners, those who have previously tried Zumba but found it too difficult as well as for adults with medical issues or physical limitation­s. Choreograp­hed moves are danced to latin rhythms such as merengue, tango, cha cha, salsa and swing, to name but a few. Each class focuses on balance, coordinati­on and on the fitness elements such as cardiovasc­ular, muscular conditioni­ng, flexibilit­y and balance. Classes are held each Monday and cost $8 for adults and $6 for pensioners and students.

A BEAR FOR ALL SEASONS

When: November 12, 1pm Where: Empire Theatre, 54-56 Neil St, Toowoomba

What: Dance Central’s Junior School Production presents A Bear for All Seasons, a tale of a neglected bear and doll who escape to the beach to find happiness, where a new little girl finds and cares for them.

Tickets cost $35 for adults, $25 for concession, $20 for children under 13 and $15 for children under 8.

COOL NIGHTS BIG BAND

When: November 12, 7.30pm Where: Armitage Centre, Heritage Bank Auditorium, Neil St, Toowoomba

What: Cool Nights Big Band is celebratin­g their 10th anniversar­y with a fabulous night of music, spectacula­r visuals and appearance­s from past members.

Cabaret seating tickets cost $30 (table seating) and $20 (seating bank) for adults, and $15 for children under 13.

MURPHY’S CREEK MARKETS

When: November 19, 7am to 12.30pm

Where: Murphy's Creek Road (adjacent to Murphy's Creek Tavern), Highfields

What: Come along for some fresh local produce and homemade treats, where collectabl­es, arts and crafts, books and lots of other goodies will also be available.

Murphy’s Creek Markets are held on the third Saturday of every month.

Admission is free and for all ages.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND

When: November 19, 3pm

Where: Empire Theatre, 54-56 Neil St, Toowoomba

What: Through dance, Radiance Academy Toowoomba retells the well-known classic Alice in Wonderland.

Performers from the age of two to eighteen will bring you on an exciting journey down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland. Come along for an afternoon of magic and fun. Tickets are $29 for adults, $22 for concession, $13 for children under 13 and $8 for children under 8.

CHRISTMAS CARNIVAL PARADE

When: November 30, 4.30pm to 8pm Where: Toowoomba CBD What: Join the festive celebratio­ns including face painting, Christmas markets, carol singers, jumping castle and more. Entertainm­ents, activities and market stalls will kick off at 4.30pm, with the lighting of the CBD Christmas tree at 7pm. Following will be a street parade along Margaret and Ruthven St to City Hall, including Santa and his sleigh, with the City Hall lights being switched on at 7.20pm.
