How working long as havea professionalyou been photographer?Over 10 years. You have a natural ability for fashion photography. What makes a good model? Definitely confidence, someone with knowledge of fashion and a great personality that can get along with people. What do you aim for in your shoots? To tell a story with the photos. Also its a team effort so for the creatives to all show their talents and to have fun. What’s your signature style for shooting? I love shooting high fashion editorial style with an edgy look. How did you learn your craft? Who is your inspiration? I learnt photography a long time ago but I’m always learning on every shoot. Other photographers that inspire me at the moment would be Billy Kidd, Georges Antoni and Steven Klein. Why is Toowoomba a great place to be a creative? Can you describe the local scene here? Toowoomba has amazing creative people to collaborate with, whether they are makeup artists, hairstylists, fashion styling, models and artists, everyone brings their own flavour to a shoot. What four things do you always have in your bag when doing a shoot? Camera, lights, batteries and a bottle of water. What advice can you give to budding photographers trying to get published? Get a great team and shoot what you love and are passionate about — it will show in your work if you love what you are doing. Then lots of practice to develop your style! Some of your images are very powerful. How do you achieve this and how do you avoid the ‘pretty’ and ‘submissive’ poses that often accompany female fashion? My focus is on storytelling so I like the models to show emotion. I like to show the model as a person with personality rather than just a mannequin.
