OPT FOR BROWNS IF YOU HAVE HAVE A LIGHTER SKIN TONE

- BY BEAUTY SPECIALIST TENNIELLE COPSON

This look is about accentuating the eyes and is best paired with pale lips in order not to overwhelm the face.

STEP 1. PRIMER

Apply a primer to your face. Primer will help achieve a perfect finish and increase the staying power of your foundation throughout the day.

STEP 2. CONCEALER

Apply concealer to dark circles under the eyes and any blemishes you wish to disguise.

STEP 3. FOUNDATION

Apply foundation starting in the middle of your face and blend outwards. Then, set your foundation with a translucent setting powder.

STEP 4. BLUSH

Apply blush in a soft peachy tone to the cheekbones. Start from the back near your ear and sweep it down towards the apples of your cheeks.

STEP 5. CONTOUR

Build up colour by applying contour in light coats. Begin by lightly dabbing the end of your brush into your contour colour before tapping off the excess. Then, lightly brush along your cheekbones starting from the hairline and working down toward the tip of your lips. Apply contour to your temple along your hairline and lastly along your jawline. Remember, less is more.

STEP 6. HIGHLIGHTER

Use a fan brush to pick up some highlighting powder and lightly brush it diagonally along your cheekbone, on the tip of your nose and above your cupid’s bow.

STEP 6. EYESHADOW

Begin by applying an eye primer to the eyelids. Set this primer by applying a nude eyeshadow to the eyelid, working it up under the brow bone. Then, use a fluffy brush to blend a taupe eyeshadow into the crease of the eye and on the lower lash line. This will be your transition shade. Take a darker shade of eyeshadow and with a smaller blending brush apply it to the outer corner of the eye and on the lower lash line. Keep building up this colour to increase intensity and darkness. Remember, it’s easier to add more colour than to take it away. To finish, use a clean blending brush to diffuse the edges of the darker shade into the taupe.

STEP 7. EYELINER

Use a black eyeliner to draw a thin line along the top lash line.

STEP 6. EYELASHES

Curl eyelashes and apply mascara. For a dramatic look, you can also use some false eyelashes.

STEP 7. LIPS

Keep the lips simple. We recommend using a lip liner a shade darker than your natural tone. Fill the lips completely with liner and apply a neutral lip gloss. By keeping the lips soft, the eyes will be the main focus.
