Gaining a more energetic you

- BY ELLIE HUGHES

You might think of high school as a time of being perpetually tired, but that’s not necessarily how it needs to be.

If you look out for your energy levels with these handy tips then you can be on your way to a more energetic you.

EXERCISE

Logically, you wouldn’t think exercise would make you more energetic, but it does.

Increasing your fitness and stamina by exercising releases endorphins, which are chemicals that make you happy.

Play on a school sports team or go for a run, as long as you do something to stop you sitting around all day.

SLEEP

Sleep is vitally important to energy levels, both while in school and beyond.

Yet it’s easy to get caught up in the action of modern life and forget to make sure we’re getting enough rest.

As a general rule, if you’re in high school then you should be getting at least eight or more hours sleep a night.

HEALTHY EATING

Food is your main source of energy and if you aren’t eating enough or eating well, then you aren’t getting the right amount.

A healthy, balanced diet is what you need to get you through the school day in top form.

Try healthy and tasty snacks like yogurt and berries or apple and peanut butter.

PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS

It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, a little social interaction can go a long way.

Make sure you have time for your friends and family in your busy schedule.

This makes for better relationships and a break for you to recover energy.

PERSONAL TIME

Everything should come in moderation, so make sure you take time for yourself too.

A constantly packed schedule will only stress you out and make you more tired than before.

Give yourself a little “me time” and do something you enjoy.

DON’T LET YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS SUFFER
