TIMELESS BEAUTY TRENDS

- BY LIBBY BUTLER

As the decades come and go, so do beauty trends. However, as the years have passed, a select few of these ‘trends’ have proved themselves to be timeless.

Minimalism

The practicality and simplicity of minimalist fashion is what has made this trend stick throughout the years.

The bold colours paired with streamlined silhouettes first made an appearance in the 60s, and nowadays can be found in both casual and office wear.

The single colour cami top is a staple casual piece in most closets these days, and this timeless trend reaches modern office wear in soft, single-coloured suits.

Florals

Flowers were first worn by people in ancient Greek and Egyptian times, being woven together to make crowns or garlands (which we still do today).

With inspiration for floral clothing coming from literally all around the world, it’s really no surprise that the design is constantly being revived.

The feminine, nature-inspired pattern has had a surge in popularity this year, just in time for spring.

Floral printed tops, pants or dresses can be found in nearly every store, in designs which range from casual to formal.

Ladylike

The tight-waisted, full skirt first captivated women’s fashion in the 1940s with the release of French designer Christian Dior’s clothing lines.

The timeless ladylike look is effortlessly feminine with a flattering shape that embraces women’s curves.

This trend has held its place for decades in the world of fashion, and is now most commonly seen in office and evening outfits.

The blouse/skirt combo is an easy go to for a professional, yet ladylike, work outfit, however it can be equally glamorous for evening wear with the addition of a wrap shirt and complementing jewellery.
