HELPING HAND

LET’S MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND CLEAN UP OUR ACT

-

With its spectacular tree-lined streets and stunning gardens and park lands, the Toowoomba region has long held the reputation for being a truly special part of Australia.

That’s why we all need to do our part to help keep it clean and green.

Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday, March 4, is an opportunity to roll up the sleeves and donate a few hours to help keep our beautiful home looking its pristine best.

To get involved, simply go to www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au and register as a volunteer or register a site/location that you wish to be cleaned.

Toowoomba Regional Council will be supporting the day through the removal of bagged rubbish from registered sites.

If you are a site supervisor, a council representative will be in contact with you in late February to confirm all your site details, including where any rubbish bags will be for collection.

Alternatively, you can dispose of all rubbish collected (at each registered site) for free at any of the staffed waste facilities in the Toowoomba region.

All volunteers are welcome to join the day, but please dress appropriately for the conditions (including a hat and sunscreen) and be sure to wear shoes suited to the area you will be working in (e.g. grassland, creeks, hillsides). And don’t forget your gloves.

The success of a day like this is so often dependent on the generosity of volunteers, so if you can spare a little bit of your time, you’ll make a huge difference in the annual fight against rubbish.
