Dr Mark Magnusson won the My Face My Body Awards 2017 category for Best Plastic Surgeon Australasia in Sydney

MFMB is a global awards program with an international judging panel recognising leading aesthetic industry professionals.

Judging is based on the nominees professional practice, contributions to research and education, commitment to delivering expert care in their speciality and contributions to the profession. The award also includes undercover consultations for a first-hand and anonymous evaluation of the practitioner at work.

Dr Magnusson’s practices focus especially on the face, breast and body.

“I have practised in Toowoomba for 17 years now and although I also work on the Gold Coast, Toowoomba remains our home and the bulk of our practice,” Dr Magnusson says.

Dr Magnusson is one of only two Australian plastic surgeons on the editorial board for the prestigious Aesthetic Surgery Journal, Aesthetic Surgery Section Editor for the Australasian Journal of Plastic Surgery and is current president of the Australasian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

There are many facets to his work, including his role as president of ASAPS. In this role he has continued to drive to raise industry standards, improved patient safety and push for a much clearer understanding of what the difference is between a specialist plastic surgeon and a cosmetic surgeon. With current regulations it is possible for anybody to call themselves a cosmetic surgeon regardless of whether or not they have had any recognised specialist surgical training.
