YOUR OUTFIT FOR THE RACES SHOULD REFLECT THE FACT THAT IT IS SPRING AND IS A RADIANT TIME OF YEAR

Melbourne Cup time means you need the right outfit — one that looks fabulous yet is comfortable, so once you have your outfit on, you can forget about it and enjoy the day!

As always, the fashion is one of the major elements and attractions of the races, so it is important to dress to impress and have fun choosing what to wear.

In terms of season’s trends, expect to see fringing, leather, bold colours and feminine florals.

A hat is a must, fascinator or headpiece, it’s not a race outfit without one. Choose your footwear wisely. As you will be on your feet all day, wear shoes that you know you can go the distance in.

Bright shoes are trending this spring so keep an eye out for some vibrant ones, but make sure they’re also comfortable.

Accessorise to the max, and if you can’t find accessories to match your outfit, go for blacks and metallics as they are very ‘in’ this season.

If you are looking for a dress/outfit that is feminine and flowy, boutiques in town such NB Style and Sybil’s have some wonderful options.

If you are looking for a dress that is feminine but slightly more structured, try some of the Grand Central stores, such as Ally or Blue Illusions, as well.

There is also a wide variety of superb men’s fashion to choose from at Peter Jackson and Oxford.

These local stores have some of Toowoomba’s best event fashion.

So enjoy dressing up and looking fabulous, but choose wisely so that you will be comfortable all day long.
