THE RACE THAT STOPS A NATION

It might be the ‘race that stops the nation’, but the Melbourne Cup is so much more than just another Group 1 horse-racing event.

When you include the whole carnival (Derby, Oaks and Stakes days), it’s a four-day celebration of food, wine and fashion – bringing together all the glitz and glamour, pomp and ceremony that has made this time of year such a special one on the racing calendar.

More than 100,000 racegoers will flock to Flemington this year to see what surprises, dramas and even fairytales will unfold in this 3200m thriller, while countless millions more will attend private functions or stand glued to the TV in their homes and offices.

This year, the Cup will be run on Tuesday, November 7 at 3pm (EDST).
