Style Artist Amy Kang
TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF...
I was born in China and spent my childhood in China. I moved to Australia in 2004 with my parents when they came to Australia as skilled migrants.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
The high standard work and amazing skills of Zhang Jingna (zemotion), Sue Bryce and Lindsay Adler inspire me to try out all sorts of different lighting and shooting techniques.
DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE…
I always loved fashion and editorial style of photography, where the photographer could make anything look pretty. I’ve tried to integrate the sense of design and beauty to make my work unique.
HOW DID YOUR STYLE EVOLVE AND WHAT HAS INFLUENCED THIS?
I love photography in general. I enjoy seeing someone else’s amazing work as well. Since I started my study to become a professional photographer, I focus more on fashion and editorial photography, as this was what I always wanted to do. I want to make things pretty, just like the photographers I admire.
WHY DO YOU ENJOY PHOTOGRAPHY?
My father was an optical instruments engineer. Him and I have played around with cameras since I was a little child. I used to take photographs just like the other kids play with toys. I enjoy every piece of creative work I have done. I can pick what is good and what is bad in my photos.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR ARTISTIC LIFE?
I achieved Student of the Year in 2017 for my portfolio. It felt good to be recognised by the judges for my study and artworks.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM GOAL OR PROJECT?
My dream goal is to work in fashion industry as a photographer, it is a hard career area to get into, but I enjoy every second of it. I have got my own business; Mo Design Photography. One day, I hope my work will be a well-known.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT TOOWOOMBA?
Toowoomba is a small town with its own beauty. You can go from one end to the other end of the town in no time at all.
