Bogut inks new NBA deal

-

ANDREW Bogut has signed a new three-year NBA deal with the Golden State Warriors worth up to a reported $US42 million ($A43.8 million).

With Bogut’s current contract due to expire at the end of this season, his impending free agency had been the subject of much speculation but the Warriors announced yesterday that the franchise and the 28-year-old Australian centre had reached a new deal.

US media reports said the deal was worth $US36 million over the three years and with incentives could reach as much as $US42 million.

The Boomer joined the Warriors in 2012 but has struggled for court time with the franchise after suffering a broken ankle that season.

Bogut managed only 30 of 82 games last season due to complications following surgery on his ankle.

He returned to his best in the playoffs in helping the Warriors to the second round.

Golden State’s impressive lateseason form has many tipping them to be a contender for this coming season’s NBA crown and Bogut’s preseason form suggests he will play a big part in that.

Bogut moved to the San Franciscobased club in California after starting out with the Milwaukee Bucks.
