LAKSA FANS HAVE THEIR SAY AFTER BOILOVER

-

YATI Dolan was a very happy, and busy, woman at the Parap Markets yesterday.

After taking out the top prize in the NT News Laksa Blind Taste Test competition, Yati’s Shaved Ice and Laksa had a lot of new customers.

“It’s our second time we won in two years,” stall owner Christiana Monostori said. “We’ve been very busy.”

Bayview resident Helen said Saturday mornings were for laksa, as she sampled Yati’s laksa for the first time.

“I read it this morning in the paper and I thought, well I’ll have to try that one now,” she said.

“We used to go to Mary’s but the line started getting too long, so we tried somewhere else and now we’re here.

“And we go to Rendezvous when we want laksa for dinner so it seems we really do like the best.”

Nearby, the shock result had not swayed many of Mary’s loyal customers – many of whom were discussing the verdict while they waited in line.

“Who were the tasters?” one disgruntled laksa lover complained.

“How do we know it wasn’t rigged? It’s pretty obvious Mary’s is the best – the queue tells the whole story.”

Mary declined to comment to the Sunday Territorian, saying she “didn’t want to be involved”.
