Arnhen Villain looks primed to steal show at Winnellie Park

- JOSH SPASARO

JAMIE Hosking’s Arnhen Villain looks back to his best and will be the one to beat in the $1750 feature race-six Sky Channel Sprint Division 1 at Winnellie Park tonight.

The 2016 Greyhound Of The Year has three wins and three seconds from six starts this year. Hosking, the reigning Trainer Of The Year, was modest when recently asked about the form of his star fouryear-old, mentioning he was slowly building for the Easter Cup.

But with another win tonight, he will be well on his way to winning the annual classic.

Mudrush (for trainer Leta Smith) is improving all the time and will provide a tough challenge, while Storm Blazer and Hanson Harley (both for Graeme Scott) should also be watched.

Amanpour (Carol Pickard), Arnhem Rogue (Hosking) and Out There Jerry (box eight for Andrew Lasker) are all threats in the small race-one field.

Chris Blackman’s runner Sublime Countess is bursting to win her maiden in race two, and the Russell Savige pair Eight Roses and Night Harmony are strong chances in race three.

Mahjong Lad returns for Nick Day and if near his best can figure in the finish in race four. Hello Joan (Hosking) is possibly the measuring stick if near her best in race five.

Gold Act (Russell Savige) steps out in distance, and if he can get some early luck is capable of a bold run in race seven.

Woody One for Nathan Toms is racing consistently and although he will be up against the likes of Bombay Rock (Lasker) and Never Fear (Pickard), he should be respected in race eight.

Both Tiger’s Spark (Pickard) and Volantis (Savige) can show good speed in race nine.

And it is hard to go past the Graeme Ferns-trained Macaloney in race 10, who may have been a little unlucky to finish third last week.
