In what could be the biggest, and most popular, open house in the Northern Territory ever, Gunter Trnka will be showing off his pet croc Jaws to all who attend his open house today. Who wouldn’t want to head down and see a 3.6m saltie being fed?

While the Sunday Territorian isn’t too sure about Mr Trnka’s description of Jaws as a “short-legged, long-tailed, waterproof dog”, he would be an ideal pet to have.

Going away on the weekend? Chuck him a chicken before you go and he’ll be fine.

Heading overseas for a month? Maybe make it two or three chickens.

Suddenly uprooting your life and not sure if you’ll be back for a year? A buffalo the day you leave, and he’ll be right.

One of Jaws’s few flaws? He doesn’t play well with others so would suit a previously pet-less owner.
