$1 MILLION CROC
... but you also get nine bedrooms, five bathrooms and two hectares of land
HE’S just a “short-legged, long-tailed, waterproof dog”, according to his current owner – but now Jaws the croc is looking for a new home.
The saltwater crocodile was brought to his Girraween property only a few years ago, and has grown a lot, to a length of 3.6m.
Now it’s time for owner Gunter Trnka to sell up, so Jaws is going for a cool $1 million.
It might seem like a lot of money, but the croc does come with a nine-bedroom, five-bathroom home on two hectares of land. “He’s the ideal pet,” he said. “You only have to feed him every month or every week. If you go away for a month, he’s all right, you just feed him a big meal before you go. And the dirtier the pond, the better.”
While Mr Trnka said he’d prefer a croc to a pit bull, he did warn potential buyers that Jaws had a lively temperament. “I’ve had a couple of near misses,” he said.
“We had SBS come out to film him, and I was using a brand new, strong bamboo pole, and he just grabbed on thinking it was my leg and he went into a death roll. I was lucky he didn’t knock me out with the other end of the e pole.”
But Mr Trnka said he would help any potential owners learn how to lookk after Jaws.
“You don’t take your eyess off him for a second,” he said. d. “Half a second is a long time e for a croc, it’s like a minute e to a human.”
The Girraween home e will be open for inspection n today from 10am to noon, and d Mr Trnka is happy to show off Jaws to potential owners. He said “everything was negotiable” in regards to buying the property, the croc and a number of other items such as a multitude of mounted deer heads.
