NATALIE HERRICK, 29 DAN BRIDSON, 29 Natalie and Dan met in London on a night out in Shepherd’s Bush. A few years later Dan proposed at the Nightcliff foreshore with the help of their baby daughter. “He had organised a picnic, but there were no clean barbecues so I said we should just go home and eat,” Natalie said. “But he persevered and eventually found a park. After dinner he was holding our daughter Ella, and they both got down on one knee and proposed.” The couple held a destination wedding in Bali. “It was so much fun,” Natalie said. “We had people there from England, Canada and all over Australia. So it was important to us we had a really good time with all of them. We had our hen and bucks do over there too, which was great because by the time of the wedding everyone knew each other and just let their hair down.” The happy couple had Jagerbombs for their toast, which set the scene for the night. “A highlight was probably the little things on the day, thoughtful speeches, words, surprises from the bridal party, and being able to get ready with my family and do the big reveal to Dad and my brother,” Natalie said. The happy couple was determined to give their guests a night to remember, and it seems they achieved their goal. “The day after the wedding, we were swimming and a man in the pool shouted us a beer because he said he and his wife were at the restaurant watching and it just looked like everyone was having such a fun night,” Natalie said. “And the next day someone asked one of the bridesmaids if she’d been at the wedding, and said they’d also been at the restaurant and wanted to come and join the party! That’s exactly the atmosphere we wanted, so it was funny to hear.” Dan chose the first dance song as a surprise for Natalie — Angels by Robbie Williams. “He also organised for fireworks to go off on each corner of the dance floor,” Natalie said. “It was great. “We wanted Ella to join in, but she had gone to bed, so the bridal party joined us at the end for Ella’s favourite song by Chainsmokers, Closer.” The newlyweds will complete their wedding experience with a honeymoon to Thailand in June.
