Law book handy resource

-

THE NT Law Handbook celebrates its first birthday this Law Week (May 15-21).

It was launched by The Administrator, The Honourable John Hardy, in Law Week 2016, and has proven to be a valuable resource for both the legal community and general public.

In its first year, the handbook attracted more than 109,000 views, with almost 9000 views in March this year, demonstrating its popularity across the Territory.

The Law Handbook can be found at ntlawhandbook.org.

The comprehensive legal resource is easily accessible online from your computer, tablet or smart phone.

As well as being a great source of information for the general public, lawyers use the handbook to inform their advice to clients, and the Legal Aid Helpline operators use the handbook to provide information to callers.

The online platform provides flexibility for contribu- tors, allowing them to update the information as law and policy changes. Lawyers and other professionals make up the approximately 70 contributors from across the NT, who volunteer their time and expertise to keep the handbook up to date.

As we look forward to an exciting second year in the online life of the NT Law Handbook, we invite firms, organisations and government departments to sponsor chapters or sections of the handbook that align with their areas of knowledge and expertise.

All contributors are acknowledged at the beginning of their section, and becoming a contributor is an opportunity to be involved in an ongoing, Territory-wide collaborative project that provides valuable legal information to the NT community.

For more information on how you can contribute to the growth or promotion of the NT Law Handbook, please contact the project co-ordinator, Dorothy Fauls, at dorothy.fauls@ntlac.nt.gov.au.
