Villain can make Hosking the hero

-

LAST year’s greyhound Trainer of the Year, Jamie Hosking, appears to have a mortgage on the $1750 feature race seven at Winnellie Park tonight.

His 2016 Greyhound of the Year, Arnhen Villain, is in excellent form with five wins from 10 starts in 2017.

The four-year-old will start from box two, while kennelmate Arnhem Rogue is also in fine form, winning two of his past three races.

In race one, Out There Jerry returns for trainer Andrew Lasker after a three-week spell, and jumping from box one should run a bold race.

Graeme Ferns will be expecting big things from Hawk Glide and Swansea Shannon in race two.

There was a noted improvement in Dark Kepper last start, and a repeat performance has him in the firing line for Ferns in race three.

Ferns’s Swansee looks one of the better bets on the program and is suited from box seven in race four.

Race five has a lot of chances, including Bee Flash for Richard Smith from box eight.

Hans Spykers is having a good run of late and his twoyear-old Cosmic Rise, from the coveted number-one lane, may take running down in race six.

Firebomb upset the apple cart, knocking over the top fancies last Sunday, and for new trainer Brian Jacobson he may go on with the job in race eight.

There was a lot to like about Pontypiari’s win for Ferns last week, and a repeat performance has him in the finish in race nine.

It is a competitive field to finish the program, and Macaloney, again for Ferns, should be suited from the wider draw.
