Rey has Cup in her sights

- JOSH SPASARO

DEL Rey will tonight continue her hopeful charge towards the Darwin Cup in the feature $1750 race eight Sky Channel Sprint Division 1 (537m) at the Winnellie Park greyhounds.

The two-year-old showed great maturity to win over that distance in her first look at the Darwin track last Sunday night.

Del Rey recently transferred from Queensland to the Brian Kelleher kennel from Tom Tzouvelis.

Newcomer Wheel Spinner has terrific form, so it would also pay to monitor Gregory Milne’s four-year-old.

Both Har (for trainer Russell Savige) and Arnhen Villain (Jamie Hosking) are other genuine threats in what will be a quality race.

Ada Maze Crystal has shown glimpses of her best form and trainer Joel Vansleve would be hoping she puts it all together in race one at 5.46pm.

It is hard to go past Macaloney (Graeme Ferns) who is low flying at the moment and is the clear top pick, with two consecutive wins, in race two.

Shanae Seubert has made a terrific start to her training career and she will think Vunivalu can go on with the job out of box eight for race three.

Sweet Crystal for Jamie Hosking looks the clear top pick out of the coveted number-one box in race four.

There was a lot to like about Trigger Bling’s first effort over 537m for Rob Brown last week, and he will race over the same distance in race five tonight.

Chris Blackman had a good night with two winners last week, and he can continue that with his in-form runner Sublime Duchess in race six.

Blackman also has twoyear-old Mystic Style, who looks up to the challenge in race seven.

Hans Spykers has a big say in race nine, with Cosmic Rise and Stoker Up both drawn nicely.

The two main chances in race 10 appear to be Sublime Chance (Seubert) and Klondike Kate (Joel Vansleve), who both have good early speed.

Our Josie (Hosking) from the inside draw may take some beating in race 11.
