Goal review concerns

THE AFL’s contentious scorereview system is back in the headlines after a couple of clutch calls made late on Thursday and Friday night.

Sydney were on the wrong end of a handful of reviews in the final quarter of their SCG thriller against Essendon, including a tight call that denied Lance Franklin what would have been an epic goal from beyond the 50m arc.

Swans coach John Longmire was keen to watch a replay of the SCG incidents before forming an opinion.

“The whole idea is to get it right. I just don’t know if they got it right or not,” he said.

Essendon coach John Worsfold was more diplomatic.

“In tight games like that you really want the right call made ... I would assume we did,” Worsfold said.
