Don’t let your makeup overshadow your outfit — here’s how to keep it simple and fresh

- EMMA CRILLY

This week has seen some extraordinary Fashion on the Fields, thanks to Ladies Day. I had the pleasure of doing Chloe Moos’ makeup (left) and had so many messages about the products I used I wanted to share my product list here.

This is how to achieve the pared-back, fresh, glowing look.

SKIN I used MAC Strobe Cream ($55), and massaged it in for about two minutes to help the skin look firm and glowing. A spritz of MAC Prep + Prime Fix + helped hydrate Chloe’s skin.

FOUNDATION Charlotte Tilbury, makeup artist to Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian, has launched the most amazing makeup line. I used Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation ($65). It gives a flawless, poreless finish and doesn’t cake.

POWDER I only powdered Chloe’s T-zone, as we wanted her skin to look dewy and fresh. I used MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder.

CONTOUR I softly contoured Chloe’s face using Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter ($45). I just buffed the tiniest amount under Chloe’s cheek bones.

HIGHLIGHT To keep in with the dewy finish I used MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna ($30). I applied it on Chloe’s Cupid’s bow, down the centre of her nose and at the top of her cheek bones.

BLUSH Again I used a cream blush to give a healthy glow and a beautiful sheen to Chloe’s cheeks. MAC Cremeblend Blush in Posey ($41) is a soft pink tone.

BROWS All I used was a clear brow gel. I coated Chloe’s brows, brushing them upwards at the start and following her arch. You can buy inexpensive clear brow gel from most pharmacies.

EYES I used one product blended up to Chloe’s crease in a soft brown and, again, it was a cream texture. The shade I used was MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Groundwork ($35). It’s a really soft natural brown and can be used alone or with eyeshadow pressed on top.

LIPS I kept these basic and neutral, simply applying a slick of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair Balm ($28) to Chloe’s lips to keep them super hydrated.

The overall look was simple, but beautiful, and the makeup didn’t overpower the outfit.
