NAIF in the Greens’ crosshairs
GREENS leader Richard Di Natale has threatened to haul every Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund director before a Senate inquiry over its dealings with the controversial Adani coal mine.
The Indian company lodged an application for a billion-dollar loan to build a rail line linking the Carmichael mine, Queensland, to the port.
During a Senate inquiry, Senator Di Natale asked NAIF chief executive Laurie Walker why it hadn’t been quashed when Adani said the government loan was “not critical” for the project.
He then threatened to haul every NAIF director before the committee. “Today’s hearing shows the board has advanced the Adani project against their own investment rules,” he said.
