Jailed VIP executive back home

-

CROWN Resorts’ VIP executive Jason O’Connor is back on home soil after being deported from China after 10 months in detention.

O’Connor, 48, along with 18 other Crown employees, were convicted of gambling crimes in China in October last year.

Gaming experts say his conviction, which came about because Crown got greedy, may affect his chances to work again in the gambling industry.

Macau-based gaming expert Ben Lee, said Crown — whose VIP revenue has plunged 50 per cent since the arrests, knew better.

“They were doing what everybody was doing. The irresponsible part came in to the level of aggressiveness they exerted in marketing in China. It was ... beyond anybody else.”
