THE HAPPY COUPLE

-

LINDSEY NEILSON, 32 JAIE FINDLAY, 31 It was a chance meeting through mutual friends at Monty’s on the Mall in 2006 where Lindsey Neilson and Jaie Findlay first met. Although Lindsey was not looking for a partner at the time, she recalls Jaie constantly pestering her to go on dates. “Jaie just fell headfirst, he was a persistent bugger and in the end he won me over — bloody glad he did,” she laughed. After three years of getting to know each other, Jaie worked up the courage to propose to Lindsey on a cruise ship called The Dawn Princess in 2009. “Jaie had the back deck cleared out, everybody knew what was happening except for me,” Lindsey said. “He then proposed with two rings, and me being the procrastinator that I am, thought I had to choose one and completely forgot about the ‘yes’ part. “In the end, he let me keep both.” Lindsey and Jaie finally tied the knot on July 15 at their Humpty Doo home in front of close friends and family members. “Having all the people we love come together for our wedding was definitely a highlight,” Lindsey said. “We turned our property into a caravan park, so we had some people staying for up to three weeks which was pleasantly hectic and very helpful.” Lindsey said she felt quite calm in the lead up to the wedding but admitted “bridezilla” came out swinging at the very end. “My hair was ruined and it put me behind an hour to fix it myself,” she said. “People were also leaving gates and doors open, even though they were asked not to, as my dogs will eat the cats. I had five dogs, three cats and 80 guests here, there are everywhere! “It was stressful constantly trying to get them back in their areas to avoid carnage but I was so lucky to have so many of my friends on the ball, it would have been mayhem without them.” Instead of a traditional honeymoon, they blissful newlyweds opted for a restful week at home spending time with family.
