JASMIN MORRIS, 32 SCOTT MORRIS, 36

WHEN Scott popped the question with a hand made ring made out of rock at her 30th birthday party, Jasmin thought it was a joke. “I said no just because I was like ‘oh my god no,’ he’s a bit of a joker. I then said yes and he gave me a real diamond,” she said. She said the whole event took her by surprise. The jimmied up rock ring, though, is now one of Jasmin’s most prized possessions. She said they decided for a laid-back wedding to celebrate their nuptials with the day taking place at the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort. “We had the ceremony and reception at the Mercure Darwin Airport Resort — we got married by the pool and had the reception in the function room,” she said. “It was all as I imagined. “It was nice and laid-back — simple formalities and nice dancing and drinking.” They chose to get married in the first week of July, and Jasmin said it was typically good weather at that time of the year. The day went off with out a hitch despite their son stealing the show. “He made himself a star. He wasn’t an official page boy but he stood with us and he fell back and hit his head on the concrete,” she said. To celebrate the occasion they took a few days away, just the two of them. “We did a mini honeymoon and had a few days at the casino which was our first time way from our son,” she said. The happy couple met each other 11 years ago through mutual friends. “We met through one of my friends who was dating his housemate and it went from there,” she said. “He was funny, he just seemed like a nice genuine guy, a down to earth sort of kind of guy.” Jasmin said she was drawn to Scott as they had a lot of fun together and lots of laughs. “We used to enjoy going to the local pub for a few beers and some games of pool. Or going fishing,” she said. The couple still enjoy the great outdoors. “We like to fish, we like fishing and camping and just being with our family,” Jasmin said.
