Dust and Sand hot prospect

- JACK HISLOP

DUST and Sand for Graeme Ferns is in a purple patch of form and looks the one to beat in the race six Sage Contracting Feature Sprint at Winnellie Park over 537m tonight.

Both Happy Glen (Jamie Hosking) and Lochinvar Style (Steele Bolton) are also racing well and will be extremely competitive, while Har (Russell Savige) is always around the mark.

In race 3 — the female heat of the Battle of the Sexes Series — the Hosking-trained Good Bye Joan looks the goods being suited to box eight, while kennelmates Arnhem Mayhem, Arnhen Villain and Arnhem Chaos are all leading chances in the male heat, which is fifth on the card.

Tiger’s Spark for Carol Pickard will be tough to beat in race two, while Hosking’s Pepper Beach appears to be heading in the right direction and is in the mix in race four, although the Bolton-trained Egyptian Diva is also suited to the 537m distance.

Race 7 features new trainer Brad Yates and his dog Our Mate Jake, who should appreciate box one. Zamlee Magic for Hosking is the top pick in race eight where box seven should suit him.

Nick Day will be looking for Gardot to produce her best form in race nine.

The two inside boxes look the main chances in race 10. Gossip Park (Peter Donnolley) from box one and Our Josie (Hosking) in box two with early luck will be hard to catch.

The Ferns-trained Jacky Shannon looks the one to beat in the final race.
