Seriously, Andrew?

ALDERMAN Andrew Arthur this week put forward a motion to Darwin Council to withdraw support for Barneson Boulevard. He felt not all alternatives had been researched. He suggested staggering start times for workers in the city. Bushie isn’t quite sure how he will go asking city businesses to change their rostering arrangements.

Aloha Chief

It is a tough gig but someone has to do it. Our Chief Minister Michael Gunner has a business trip planned for Hawaii coming up. Bushie would love to see how many daily meetings the chief and his entourage have lined up to justify a week-long trip at taxpayer’s expense to the sun-soaked getaway.

Food for thought

NEW Foodbank manager and former CLP Minister Pete Chandler is thankful to be alive after he was knocked from his scooter heading home on Friday. He said he got an 8.5 for his landing and has no plan to do better.

Hot in the kitchen

NEW Darwin mayor Kon Vatskalis has been getting hot under the collar as of late but not in the way you might expect. While it is traditional for our mayors to don their robes at the Key to the City March, held yesterday for the soon-to-be decommissioned HMAS Dar

win, Kon reportedly refused to as it was too hot. Not very Territorian to complain about the heat, Kon, and if it is good enough for our troops to don full uniform, it is good enough for the mayor.

Unexpected honesty

It turns out the saying is wrong: there is honour amongst thieves! NT News court scribe

Craig Dunlop dropped his wallet in Court 1 at Darwin Local Court, the eye of the storm so far as petty crime is concerned in Darwin. While Dunlop has been the subject of threats, a d--k flashing, and several bribery attempts over the years, one kind court attendee took it upon himself to hand the wallet in to lost and found. If you come forward to Bushranger, you’ll be spared Dunlop’s nasty adjectives as a reward.

‘Bout time

A BIG shout out to fisho Hiro – the landbased fisherman has caught upwards of 1000 barra and this week caught his first $10,000. That is a long time to be catching barra and there probably is not anyone more deserving of one with a red tag attached. It’s proof that you don’t need a fancy boat and gear, just a rod and patience.

Cop this

MY Kitchen Rules’ Betty Banks is relocating to Darwin. The stunning 28-year-old, who had tens of thousands of followers on Instagram, is moving to be with her policeman boyfriend.

Racing wrangler

YOU can take the man out of the Territory but you can’t take the Territory out of the man. Outback wrangler Matt Wright and fiancee Kaia Hammond have joined celebrities down south for the Melbourne Cup racing festivities. Ever the country bloke, Matt was dishevelled in what Bushie imagines was once a fancy suit. Matt, we hope you picked a winner and you are able to do up your tie for your upcoming nuptials.

Cutbacks

HAILEYBURY Rendall, which is taking over Kormilda College from next year, has cut back on its Indigenous boarder intake next year. It will only have 80 to 90 places on offer. It says the reduction is intentional to allow the new leadership team to create a new culture. Bushie wonders what will happen to the 60 other Indigenous boarders who would normally attend the school from the bush.
