FIELD AND GAME ARE SHOOTING TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP IN THE NORTHERN TERRITORY
Newly joined NT Field and Game members and those current members that recruited them could be very lucky ducks this season. NT Field and Game have pulled a Miroku Mk70 12 gauge shotgun out of the hat thanks to Steve Lees and Outdoor Sporting Agencies.
NT Field and Game has embarked on a membership drive that the big wheels in the hunting and firearms industry are backing with this superb firearm as a prize.
Every current member and any new member that has joined since the NT waterfowl hunting season was declared on August 24 will have a chance to win the Miroku.
All new members that join up are in the running.
They must nominate which current member recruited them.
Those two will then toss a coin for first or second prize. It only costs just over $100 full membership and as little as $26 for an additional family member.
So, join up your mates and family and get multiple chances to win.
NT Field and Game’s goal is to lift the membership from 420 to 1000 dedicated hunters and shooters. You can join the NT branch online at fga.net.au, or come out to the club this morning from 8am, join up and have a crack at some clay target competition.
Once again NT Field and Game has been lucky enough to receive grant funding from the Sport and Recreation Department of the NT Government. We thank Minister Lauren Moss for the new bridge crossing Mickett Creek and overhead fans that have made our club area so much more comfortable.
The multi-use range is nearing completion thanks to the hard work of many at the club, but most recently, Richard Norris, Peter Bedggood, Steve Lees, Andrew Brock and Tim Holmes.
The range will allow an elevated shooting platform for simulated field competition, a skeet range and a second full five stand ground. We congratulate Bedgy on his life membership and Brocky on his award for outstanding service to the club.
Damo from Coolalinga Guns and Ammo said everything on goose ammo sales had gone quiet. “We have been selling ammo at cost, because of this three-bird limit. We bought bulk ammo following a good Wet. Then the government do this to hunters at the last minute. The only thing we have heard is they are flying high at Harrison Dam,” he said.
Grant at Fishing and Outdoor World said there were more geese than ducks last weekend.
“It could be the influence of the moon. Harrison, Lambell’s and Shoal Bay are all working. Many of our normal interstaters have cancelled their hunting and fishing trip this year. That hurts.”
Weekly wetlands rainfall report to Thursday 11am: Middle Point 15mm, Gunn Point 143mm, Shoal Bay 73mm and Howard Springs Nature Park 44mm. Weekly Friday night practice continues at the NT Field and Game range, Mickett Creek Shooting Complex, Brandt Rd, Knuckey Lagoon.
This is the best place for hunters to get all the goose gossip every week. There are now two grounds with the token system in operation. The ranges will be open from 3pm on Fridays for those who plan ahead and pre purchase ammo and tokens. The sales desk normally opens at 5pm.
