None of the Tigers’ players and coaching staff need to be told it’s been 53 years since the black and yellow jumpers pre- Inter TIGERSI R Judd N Lockyer J Lampton R Dhamarrandji H Brown S Talbot vailed on grand final day.
Coach Chris Baksh is no exception, saying premiership wins had to be earned, not discussed over a lemonade.
“It’s definitely something we can aim for and in this case it would be a big achievement, but for us it’s the old cliche, week by week and game by game,’’ Baksh said.
“Every game is important for us at the present time, including playing a side like Palmerston who have shown flashes of very good form.
“Then we’ve got Waratah on a Sunday, Southern Districts on a Friday night and the Tiwis at Tracy Village, so we have to start showing some consistency.’’
The Tigers get experienced trio Paul Scanlon, Troy Coates and Elliott Powell back for the Magpies game, adding a big slice of experience to the youthful line-up that lost heavily to Southern Districts in the last game before Christmas.
The Magpies get a boost of their own with speedsters Lachy Dhurrkay, Raven Mari- ka and Ralph Dhamarrandji returning for the 2pm game at TIO Stadium today.
Dhurrkay and Marika return to Geelong next week to resume training with the Cats’ VFL side, but they will don the black and white jumper against the Tigers and the Bombers next week in a bid to bring some joy to Palmerston fans.
