Hijab attack ‘cowardly’

TORONTO police are investigat­ing an attack on an 11-yearold girl whose hijab was repeatedly cut on her way to school.

An assailant, in two attempts within 10 minutes, cut the girl’s hijab using scissors while she was walking to school with her brother

“I felt confused, scared, terrified,” Khawlah Noman, who is in Grade 6, said yesterday.

“I screamed. Some people don’t like us and our clothes.”

Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne called the incident a “cowardly act of hatred”.
