EMEL HUNT, 32 CODY HUNT, 32

IT’S been a whirlwind romance for Cody and Emel, who both tied the knot and welcomed their first baby this year. The two met at a music festival in Darwin and soon after realised they were meant to be together. “Our first date was technically at East Point, which is why we chose that location for our wedding,” Emel said. “Later on when we were in a relationship we would always walk our dogs there as well.” Although the couple had talked extensively about their future and plans to one day get married, Emel said the proposal itself was unexpected. “He took me to a lake and had set up a proper picnic with blankets, snacks and wine,” she said. “He even got down on one knee with a ring so it was definitely a classic proposal.” The wedding plans came together with ease, as the couple wanted a casual relaxed ceremony that reflected their personalities. They decided on a vintage, boho style, which was perfectly comfortable for the Wet season, as their wedding took place last March. Emel wore a short, classy white dress, aptly suited to the outdoor setting, while Cody donned a casual white shirt and beige pants. Emel originally hails from Germany, and her sister and close friend made the long trip to Darwin in order to be in attendance. Meanwhile, Cody’s relatives travelled from all over Australia, including Sydney and WA, to be there for the special day. The couple haven’t yet had the chance to go on a honeymoon, as Emel was pregnant soon after the wedding, and they began excitedly preparing for their first bundle of joy. Their son, Destan, is now a few weeks old and his mum said he is a happy, relaxed and chilled out baby.
