JEMMA POLLOCK, 27 AARON POLLOCK, 33

From a low-key movie outing to rocking up at the Darwin Cup on their first big date, Jemma and Aaron have come a long way in the last seven years. The duo met at a friend’s going-away party in 2011 and three years later Aaron surprised Jemma at her 30th birthday celebrations in Marlow Lagoon. “Not even in my wildest dreams had I ever imagined him proposing. He never even dropped any hints, until that day when he was down on one knee and had a ring in his hand,” Jemma said. “I still can’t figure out how he guessed the right size for the ring.” After staying happily engaged for almost three years, the couple decided to tie the knot in July last year and hit off for a hard bogan Bali honeymoon. The couple united in wedlock at Aaron’s parents’ property in Marlow Lagoon in the presence of friends and family with the classic cocktail and garden theme for the venue. “The front yard was decorated for ceremony and the backyard was reserved for reception. With our daughter dressed as the flower girl, it was a complete family wedding and I could not have asked for more,” Jemma said. When it came to honouring the newlyweds at the feast, maid of honour Kelly Brieffies and best man Bernard Murray beautified the moment with their awe-inspiring words. “When I met Aaron it was as if he was already one of us and felt like he had been in the picture forever. He works hard, he plays hard, he parties harder and ‘hates’ a drink therefore he’s in, we’ll have him!” sister Kelly said. With the bar already set high, the pressure was now on Bernard and with his cheeky swagger he stole the show. “There comes a time in everyone’s life where they meet their one true love, their soulmate, the person that will know them and understand them for the rest of their life; that moment came for Aaron 19 years ago when he met me,” he said. “Ha ha, but seriously Jemma, when I first met you, instantly I knew Aaron had found his true love. I saw a new side to him. “When I met you Jemma I didn’t just think Aaron had found his soulmate but I’d also found a best friend too.” After one year of marriage Jemma feels they are as happy as they were before marriage. However, now they feel complete as a family. Jemma works in real estate and Aaron works in construction with the Inpex project. Both have lived in Darwin for most of their lives.
