SMASHING SUNDOWNER Sunset Sunday Session at the Darwin Ski Club, 5pm-8pm. Entry is free but yearly social membership­s start from $25 for seniors, $55 for adult and $65 for families. Members are welcome to bring along their pups (as long as they are on leashes) and also can use the on-site pool. Live music.

FORGET IT JAKE, IT’S CHINATOWN Chinese Cultural Walking Tours. This is a 45 minute walk exploring the Chinese heritage of Darwin. Wander the area once known as Chinatown en route to see one of the last original buildings. Along the way, hear stories of market gardeners, grocers, miners, merchants and mayors. HIT THE TOAD Tuesday Twilight Toadbust. Conservati­on Volunteers Australia is giving people the opportunit­y to protect biodiversi­ty all while having a free, fun night out. Come to the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens and be part of a team of volunteers that catch and remove cane toads to reduce and control numbers of this invasive species. Register before joining via 8981 3206 and don’t forget to bring along your own torch. 6.30pm-8.30pm, meet at Eva’s Botanical Gardens Café.

YEAR OF THE DIGGITY DOG Chinese New Year Celebratio­ns. The Confucius Institute CDU is partnering with DCWRA to celebrate Chinese New Year with activities and active demonstrat­ions in the Smith St Mall and Raintree Park. GET A RED IN YOUR HEAD Calling red wine lovers! Six glorious reds will be shared, including reds from Australia’s first families of wines. Tickets are $49 per person with shared cheese platters. MUDDY GREAT NIGHT OUT Top End Mud Racing’s round five event. Bring the kids — and a change of clothes. You can BYO drinks, but no glass. Gates open at 6pm but come early if you want to secure your spot. Event starts at 7pm. There will be food stalls, a licensed bar and souvenirs available for purchase.
