too many boats on the water I don’t know,” he said.

“The rivers are dropping and on the bigger tides everyone will be fishing the smaller creeks along the coast now.

“Offshore fishing has been really good while the weather was calm, they are finding jewies and goldies and there are sailfish reports.

“Jewies are biting on the Shady Camp jew reef as well.

“There is supposed to be more rain coming next week so people will have to be a little careful with the weather if they are doing the long trips.

“The Adelaide River has not really fired yet, it is still a little high, and I have not had any reports from the Finniss.

“There was rain out Jabiru way, which might put Magela Creek back up.

“Some good fish have been caught in Shoal Bay, so there’s no need to travel far.

“Generally speaking the barra fishing has not live up to people’s expectations, but it is very early days yet, it will have to settle down, people can see the fish on their sounders.”

Anaconda’s Jason Rogers said he had a good session at Shady Camp last Saturday.

“We stayed overnight then fished Sunday morning,” he said.

“We landed more than 80 barra to 80cm, all taken by casting.

“Most were on vibes, with a few on Reidy’s B52s.

“It was so much fun we went again on Tuesday and we would have boated

well over 50 barra.

“I did a bit of trolling at the mouth because the water was looking a bit better and lost two donkeys, but we had sounder trouble so went back to casting.

“I know of four or five fish over a metre caught the past few days as well as one by Dani Best, who was on a solo mission, she boated a 110cm stonker.”

In the FFF Seadogs February brag mat round at fishingterritory.com “Barra Mick” entered the biggest fish, at 97cm.

The March round is now under way and there’s still plenty of time to enter for 2018.
