ALY WATSON, 20 ZACK WATSON, 22

ALY and Zac Watson were looking at Jetstar’s sale fares when they saw a cheap flight to Japan. Jumping on the deal, the couple booked their honeymoon there and then. There was only one problem. They hadn’t even organised their wedding yet. The pair met on Tinder when Aly was still in high school, and began dating. On their first date, they saw Love, Rosie at the cinema before “hanging out and chatting”. When Aly finished school, the couple travelled to Tasmania for a holiday. It was there that they visited Remarkable Cave, about 5km south of Port Arthur. “Zack took me to this lookout and he said a small speech and asked me if I wanted to marry him,” Aly said. “So I said yes.” The couple were engaged for about two years before they ended up on the Jetstar sale site. “We booked our honeymoon before we planned any of the wedding,” Aly said. “So then we were like, ‘well, we better get married’.” Three weeks later, Aly walked down the aisle. “We just decided to get married and we only wanted a small, intimate wedding,” she said. Aly borrowed a white dress from a friend, and the couple organised to have the ceremony at Darwin’s Sweet Brew cafe with some food afterwards. Hair and makeup was done at Aly’s place, as were some photographs. “It went so fast,” she said. “We were at Sweet Brew for about four hours but it felt like four minutes.” After the blur of the wedding, the couple went home. They’ll leave for Japan on their six month anniversary.
